There is a website with pet videos. The videos show the pet moving from the side and towards you. You can look at all the skins for a family, search for a rare’s name or look at the pets in a zone. Fun stuff.

On bats, I love my red bat. Owls are great looking but that fluttery wing movement just drives me nuts. Bats have an elegant way of moving that suits my female NE hunter.

I had a go at scorpids with my NElf hunter, Woodsong. I think she had a white one for a while, one of those near Gadgetzan. However, for me the ultimate NElf pet is the Wind Serpent. Both have a certain grace in movement which seems to match. Especially now the serpents swim.
She had most of the colours, except green, and is currently, at L64 running around with the dark blue one called Lazuli. Took a looooong time leveling her.

It’s her only pet, but I may end up picking up an owl, or even one of those armoured wind serpents as secondary.

I must admit i’ll agree with the green scorpid, but just a couple days ago I paid a mage 5g to die so i could tame Mnementh, my lovely Vile Sting. :p I’ll be sticking with him for a while. And I had Ressan the Needler for a long time, until my girlfriend (whose main is a rogue) told me she wouldn’t play with me anymore until i got a pet that wasn’t always in her way… :-X That’s where Mnementh came in…

I do love those bright blue/green scorpids, I’m sorry I didn’t take one to 70 with me (I have a nasty habit of trying out different pets as I lvl, instead of just sticking to one). After taming Sian-Rotam and getting him to 70, I do not want to lvl another pet, it’s so horrible. I might make an alt just to run around with one. :P

I’ve often thought it would be great if I could have not just a single static picture but a bunch of pictures of each pet and maybe a short animation. But with 150+ skins, it’s not happening anytime soon. *grin*

I must admit that I prefer my pets to “match” the hunter, even if it results in a sterotypical pair. I just use Petopia to find an unusal skin. :)

And I must confess — the Petopia snapshot of each skin has a considerable effect on my pet choices. I like to use Petopia’s snapshots as desktop backgrounds, and if I don’t like the picture, I won’t tame the pet. For example, my Tauren hunter once considered taming one of the brown armored boars but went with a black one instead because I don’t like the Petopia picture of the brown one.
