PTR 2.2.0: Voice Chat

The PTR updated yesterday with a new build, including the long-awaited voice chat feature. Voice chat wasn’t turned on yesterday, though — it is apparently in the process of being turned on this morning. Nethaera has posted a Voice Chat FAQ on the WoW forums to answer all your questions about what this means for WoW. Keep in mind, however, that voice chat is at this time on the PTR only, and we don’t know when it might see the light of day on the live realms.

In order to let more people check out voice chat (and help find any bugs with it), Blizzard has added another Public Test Realm, bringing the total to three. You can still copy a pre-made level 70 over to the PTR, but I hear the wait times are a little long.

The new PTR build has other things bedsides voice chat. I wasn’t relishing digging through the notes comparing the new new Patch 2.2 notes to the previous version, but thankfully WoWInsider already did that for me! Check out the additional changes in this new PTR build.

  1. Well, at least they fixed Feign Death and Track Humanoids to work as in the real servers! :)

A bit worrying though, judging from the changes in other classes that I suspect are not intentional, such as the now reverted rogue changes and shamans still doing some abilities without using reagents…

Sounds like when Patch 2.2 will come, we’ll out be out of playing WoW for a week or so until they fix all that they let slip, plus the new problems with massive sound usage…

  2. so many patches , so many changes to hunters, but what the hunter comunity really wish never happen …..more stable slots. I wonder why this is so hard to be implemented

  3. We use Skype for chat and it works great. It even allows up to 10 people in conference for free, which is perfect for Kara.
