Petopia: More “Almost Unique” Looks

I’ve expanded the Pets with Unique Looks (under Special Pets in the navigation menu) to include more appearances that aren’t technically unique (they are used on more than one specific kind of creature) but which are limited to one specific area. Examples include the acid green scorpids from the Barrens and the bright red lynxes from Eversong Woods. I fudged a bit in a few cases: almost all the black hyenas live in Desolace, but there is a black hyena that can sometimes be found in Thousand Needles, the Galak Packhound. … except that I’ve been looking for a Galak Packhound since my main was level 25, and I’ve never seen one. So I threw in the black hyenas as well.

The reason you would not have found the Galak Packhound is because, from my understanding, they are technically a “rare spawn” without a rare marker.

Specifically, they are the escorts/pets (but not marked with “x’s pet,” so they are tameable as far as I know) of a rare-spawned Centaur who patrols Thousand Needles near Whitereach Post. He’s a level 31 khan-type centaur and he’s killed my low-alt Priest at least three times. Whenever he spawns, two Galak Packhounds spawn with him and follow along behind him.

    As Maahl says.

The Rare spawn is Achellios the Banished and he wanders near Whitereach Post.

You can see from the maps at http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=5933 & http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=4250 that they are found in exactly the same places.

It looks like the link to the “Ghost Saber Gallery” is broken.

Yes the Ghost Saber is broken. The link links to “http://sethra/html/articles/resources/gallery_ghostsaber.shtml”

I love the expanded view of uncommon skins.

Thanks, Hynjoku and Jayla. Good catch. :> I’ve fixed it now.
Sethra is the name of the local machine I test on, if you were curious. Five points if you can name the reference.

And thanks to Maahl and Marbles for the Galak Packhound info. :>

I read this and went out and tamed a Galak Packhound. They don’t have any innate skills, at least the one I tamed didn’t. I’m not trying to show you up or anything, Mania :P

My post on it and screenshots here

Heh! Of course not. Congrats on finding the little … guy. *grin*
And I’m going to have to update his skills so they don’t read Unknown anymore. Thanks!

Tell me you don’t have a server closet named “Dzur Mountain”…

Unfortunately, no. My husband isn’t into interesting naming, so our shared computer resources are usually called things like “Workgroup”. *sigh*
