I recently started a BElf hunter and decided she’ll head off to Dun Morogh when she hits 10 to get herself a white cat. Why? I guess two reasons: one is the idea of a trek to get a pet, which you seem fond of yourself. The other is that I want to break the colour scheme. Too much red and orange in that place. =)

Then again, I have considered getting her Zarakh when she’s old enough…

Oops – Arcadia, nevermind about the quick leveling. I didn’t notice you had your sights on the level-10 ravager specimens rather than the level-17 enraged ravagers.

Mania – I hope the tip helps others. The quest is called “A New Plague” and is from Apothecary Johaan in Brill. I went back to Bloodmyst for the 3rd time at level 20 with the sleep sand and my brand-new freezing traps, hoping one or the other would work. There seems to be a very short cooldown on their tame-interrupting move and I was not at all confident in my ability to do something clever for the 10 seconds before and/or after they were frozen. On my previous trip I’d had the Really Sticky Glue from the “A Solvent Spirit” quest that kept the ravager trapped for 10 seconds, but gave up on that approach after a few tries in which the ravager knocked me down as soon as the glue wore off. Combining the glue with a freezing trap ought to have worked, but I don’t think I could manage it with just one or the other and had used up the glue. So it was SUCH a relief to have the slumber sand work like a charm!

On the enraged ravagers – the pets level up reasonably quickly, Arcadia. My troll switched to an enraged ravager he had stabled at level 22, and at player level 24 the pet level is already at 23.

Mania, I tried a trick I found from a poster on Thottbot to tame these guys that lets you get one at level 16. If you do the first 2 parts of a level-8-ish quest chain in Brill from the apothecary, you get a reward of “slumber sand”, which will put an enraged ravager (or any other monster below level 30) to sleep for 20 seconds. I tamed mine without a freezing trap this way; the ravager was immobilized for the entire tame spell. This was quite gratifying after failing to tame one using a myriad of other not-so-useful tips at level 16.

Haha, I actually leveled a night elf hunter to 70 and mailed my gear on my dwarf to her, just to have three extra stable slots. I have them mail their gear back and forth between eachother, they share gold, ETC.

I like the plan. :) My BE hunter seems to take great enjoyment from taming pets from Alliance lands – first the Ghost Saber, next I think a Ravager Specimen – which is going to be annoying, as I’m level 25 now, but dammit, I don’t want to wait until 60ish for a Ravager. I think I might train up a Mangeclaw or Bjarn, as well.

I need like, five or six stable slots – I want to steal owls and moonstalkers, as well. :)

Since they can now learn ‘dash’, (red) raptors are in as blood elf pets, too, methinks :)

For me blood elves are vain, arrogant and manipulative…. I love it!…and I think that their pets should personify that (being so vain and all)

1. For me wind serpents are a great choice (nods at nobbie). They are beautiful, slippery and vicious with a lil magic to boot.

2. Spiders are defiantly a shoe in. Despite their lack of skills (hopefully this will change some time down the track) they are deadly, elegant in a creepy way, and treacherous.

3. Any type of bird (peacock would suit best if you could tame them!) The prettier the better Owls,Carrions,Dragonhawks,Striders. It’s all to do with how much better it make you look..!

I had a carrion bird for the looks on my blood elf huntress, but switched later to a red wind serpent from Feralas. Very flashy pet (lightning breath), good damage, sturdy enough, and looks really sweet together with a female blood elf :)

There are two major types of wind serpents: The “classical” look from the regions of Azeroth, and the new one from the Outlands. Both look good.
