Welcome to the new blog! (Same as the old blog.)

About ten weeks ago I started up a blog based on my work with the website Petopia. I’ve been maintaining Petopia for over a year and although I truly enjoy researching hunter pets and keeping the site up to date, it’s sometimes rather dry. Petopia tries to be a very factual site, and I wanted a place I could be a bit more chatty about my thoughts and experiences as a hunter. And what do you know — I found I really enjoyed the blog! In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I decided to expand upon it, invest more time in it, make it more permanent — here, with this blog hosted on my own domain.

This blog will cover not just my work on Petopia but also my work on some other hunter pet projects I’ve got going (which I’ll be talking about more in due time) – plus all the vague philosophy, random observations, and recounted game experiences that you’ve come to expect. You’ll notice that this blog is named after me rather than Petopia. Partially that’s because getting a domain with ‘Petopia’ in it is difficult, but mostly it’s because I see this as a personal (and personable) endeavor, seperate from the maintenance I do for Petopia. As I found with the previous Petopia blog, a blog is a perfect medium for collating and condensing the most interesting (and ephemeral) hunter news and discussions.

Okay — I need to cut this short. It’s after 2 am and I’m starting to wax lyrical.

Anyway, the previous Petopia blog, hosted at WordPress.com, will remain where it is for now, but it’s effectively shut down — I won’t be posting there any more (at least not after a final redirect post to here) and I’ve closed down the comments. But I imported all of the posts and comments from that blog to this one, so although it may look a little different it has all the amenities of home. This blog may go through some changes as I settle in and stretch my legs — and I’d appreciate your feedback on the theme and layout, which I built myself, and isn’t that a great shot of the Barrens? — but I have a lot more functionality to play with here, so we’ll see what we end up with. *grin*
