Life Tip of the Day: Migraines
Don’t get migraines.
Blizzard posted a list of known issues in Patch 2.1.0 this morning. Presumably this isn’t all the issues, but merely the ones they’ve been able to verify so far. I’ve reproduced only the hunter-related issues below.
I just noticed that my lovely bullet-pointed patch notes are displaying without bullets. Reading the support pages here are WordPress, this looks like an expected (although not by me!) side effect of my theme. I’m trying to figure out how to fix it. In the meantime, you have my apologies for the hard-to-read lists.
[Edit 6/28: This is no longer an issue, so if you're reading this in the future and you can't figure out what I am talking about, don't be too concerned.]
This is just a random list of patch notes I found vaguely interesting, with commentary. Most of them are not hunter- or pet-related in any way, so you needn’t feel obligated to read them. :>
After I go off on one of my rants about the flaws in the current pet system in WoW, people sometimes ask me “Well, how would you handle it?” They rarely ask twice — I have charts, and I am willing to use them. But I thought it might be fun to share some of that armchair design here. First up: the problem of pursuit speed enhancers. (Pursuit speed is the speed at which pets run to their target. You can read more about it on the Petopia Pursuit Speed page.)
TKA Something is a great little pet site that inspired a lot of the work that went into Petopia. TKA Something has been in brumation for the past couple of months while Fritti worked on a new look and layout, but now she is back up and updated for Patch 2.1.0. And I have to say that I am really glad to have her back! Drop by and take a look!
degbunke asked an interesting question in a comment down below:
This might be a litte off topic, but can you use blank space in your pet’s name, and/or capital letters? For example “My Pet” or “MyPet” instead of “Mypet”. I think I’ve seen pets with blank spaces and capitals in their names, but I’m not sure.
I’ve never played around with pet naming — my pets are generally named something simple like Cloud or Banshee – but I know they are different than character naming rules. I’ve seen pets with much more flexible names, with caps and all. Does anyone know exactly what the rules for naming your pet are?
I thought I’d post some of the data points I have on Cobra Reflexes. These are stats from my characters set up for gameplay — in other words, I didn’t unspec or strip armor or whatnot. (Since I haven’t yet figured out how scaling works for damage, I didn’t try to eliminate that variable either.) So these are not rigorous mathematical tests, but they do give a feel for how Cobra Reflexes might effect a pet in play.
I happened to be browsing the official WoW hunter forums and saw a post that you can now tame a new pet while you have an existing pet active, so long as your active pet is dismissed. So I tried it out, and yes, you can. But the behavior is … odd … and I don’t know whether it’s intended or not.
I gathered all the notes that seem interesting to hunters or our pets in one place. I probably missed a bunch, but hey — the patch notes are really long and I may not actually know what’s important anyway. But I figured it was worth a shot.
